Corbett Sitabani Temple


This is newly opened zone in Corbett loaded with nature`s wonders. Besides animals like the Tiger, Elephants and Leopards, Sitabani reserve forest hosts around 600 species of birds.

A major attraction within the forest is an ancient temple dedicated to Sita. Sitabani also finds mention in the Ramayana. It is believed that it was here that Sita spent her days stranded in exile and was supposedly absorbed by the earth.

Whole of forest area in Sitabani is open round the year for Safari tour and there is absolutely no limit of vehicles entering the area. Corbett national park authority will not offer the permit for the entry into zone. Sitabani forest department makes provides the permit for jeep safari. Sitabani forest zone also has popular temple which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There is shallow brooks flowing through the Sitabani, and it offers enjoyable retreat to the tourists to get through. Tourists can also catch fishes and get all excited about angling. It would indeed be a great idea to take tour to Sitabani and get a real time glimpse. This temple is dedicated to Sita, the female protagonist of the Hindu epic Ramayana. Its association with the Ramayana, a Hindu epic, is corroborated by legends that state that Sita, the protagonist of Ramayana, spent her days stranded in exile during the agnipariksha episode.

Sitabani Mata Temple is located 20 km from Ramnagar. The temple is beautiful and a perfect place to attain peace. A fair is organised every year on the auspicious day of Ramnavami and thousands of visitors attend the fair.
